STS Crane Consultant to Evaluate procurement of new cranes

The Engineering Consultant selected is to evaluate the cranes and procurement of the ZPMC fabricted cranes which are currently available at Nantung fabrication facility base near Shanghai.

Thunderstorm "Rolls" Across South Florida Derailing Cranes 9 - 10

In a violent storm on Friday afternoon, June 5, 2009 which winds were recorded at 76 mph, cranes 9 and 10 partially derailed as crane 9 collided into crane 10. As such, we implemented emergency procedures and have completed the structural integrity assessment and incident survey that was performed by Shaw GBB engineers. The assessment included detailed external and internal inspections of all critical structures and visuals of other components. As a result, no structural damages were found or significant damages to operating systems and components. Further analysis will be performed on Saturday as the cranes are back on the tracks and full operational load testing can be performed.

Port of Miami Crane Management, Inc., (Crane Management) was awarded the Industry Leader Safety Award in Maritime Services by Signal Mutual Indemnity Association for Outstanding Safety Performance in 2006-2007. Crane Management awards a contract to G. C. Zarnas & Company, Inc.

As a result of the evaluation and rating of the proposals received in response to RFP2007-1, Painting of Port of Miami Cranes 4-5-6, Crane Management has awarded the contract to G. C. Zarnas & Company, Inc.

Port of Miami sold cranes, diesel motors and crane components

The Port of Miami has auctioned and sold cranes 1, 2 & 3, numerous Cummins KTA-50 diesel engine generator sets on skids, Caterpillar diesel engine generator sets, generators, crane components, manlift and numerous other miscellaneous components.

Electrification of Cranes 4-6 is completed

The Port has completed electrification of cranes 4-6 which included constructing a electric power vault, underground electrical duct banks, manholes, electric pits, crane trailing cable trench and installation of all electrical components on cranes 7-10.

Cranes 11-12 performing beyond expectations

As cranes 11-12 were placed in operation, after several weeks it was realized that these crane with there ABB control and drive systems were performing beyond expectations. Although several minor issues have been encountered in the last year, they have been resolved with the support of ABB and ZPMC

Upgrade of PLC and CMS have been installed on Cranes 7-10

Cranes 7-10 MP 200/1 Controller and CMS were upgraded to AC410 Advant Controller and CMS to standardize crane components and improve on production by providing the maintenance personnel to resolve operational crane problems more efficiently.

Crane 5 is back in operation after upgrade of drives, installation of new PLC and CMS

Cranes 5 and 6 are fully functional and working after upgrade of crane drives from Tyrak L with MP200 to DCS 600 with new AC410 Advant Controller CMS and remote I/Os, new main hoist motors and festoon system. Crane 4 is currently being upgraded.
