Port of Miami Crane Management, Inc., (PMCM aka Crane Management) is soliciting Proposals from qualified and experienced Consulting Engineering Firms for the design, engineering, and construction management of the expansion of the existing PortMiami Gantry Cranes 13 KV Switchgear Room on the Lummus Island Container Terminal as described and specified in the subject Request for Proposal (RFP).   

The Expansion consists of expanding the existing Switchgear Room building and an underground electrical and communications infrastructure to include an underground pit at Wharf no. 3 to provide power and communications to cranes. The work is divided into two (2) phases, (1) Study and Preliminary Design, and (2) Design and Construction Services.

The study shall include but not be limited to evaluating the feasibility of several different building expansion options; (1) a new and adjacent building to the existing Switchgear Room on the west side or east side, or, if feasible, a (2) 2nd floor on top of the existing Switchgear Room and FPL vault. The new building shall consist of separate rooms for the electrical switchgear, a separate server and NAP room, and an office for crane operations. The underground infrastructure includes but is not limited to approximately eight hundred and fifty feet (850 ft) of underground electrical conduits, manholes, and an underground electrical pit at Wharf 3 where the cranes’ will be connected to the electrical power and fiber communications. 

 

Interested firms are solicited to submit their qualifications, experience, schedule, and proposed methods to perform the work. Time is critical and work shall be completed prior to November 1, 2023. The bid package will be available on Monday, June 5, 2023, and can be obtained by contacting Mr. Terrence Kelsey, CPPB, email [email protected].  There will be a Pre-proposal conference on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 10:00 AM EST at PMCM’s Main Conference Room located at PortMiami, 2650 Port Boulevard, Miami, FL 33132.
